San Francisco—March 8, 2004—Macromedia (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced the availability of new features for Macromedia Breeze that make web communication more meaningful, effective, and useful. Breeze provides a rich web communication system that enables users to hold collaborative real-time meetings, instructor-led classes, and seminars, as well as to deliver on-demand informational presentations and e-learning courses. Breeze leverages Microsoft PowerPoint and Macromedia Flash Player to enable approximately 500 million web users to immediately experience engaging online meetings and rich content without downloading special plug-ins or media players. Macromedia is offering North American users the chance to try free web conferencing through Breeze for the month of March. For more information on Breeze, visit www.macromedia.com/go/breezeship.
"Macromedia is making web conferencing more useful and effective for businesses by giving them more power, control, and flexibility over their information," said Kevin M. Lynch, vice president, Macromedia. "Macromedia Breeze enables the free flow of information within organizations by building on their existing expertise, assets, tools, and technologies that are already available."
Breeze empowers leading companies to quickly share critical business information without the expense of travel and unnecessary meetings. Companies can share information with an on-demand presentation, collaborate internally on business strategies with a live whiteboard, or train support staff on a new product with the ability to quiz them on their comprehension of the new information.
Breeze delivers the same level of collaboration possible in a face-to-face meeting with the ability of all meeting participants to work on a shared whiteboard, use polling to determine the course of a meeting, as well as share applications and desktops within the meeting.
"Macromedia Breeze provides benefits that include reduced development time, saved resources, and the elimination of additional costs of going to various vendors," said Scott Hamerink, project lead, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. "The savings can add up as we deliver more than 250 presentations each year. Breeze also enhances the way we provide information to our customers, helping them navigate the health care system."
The Macromedia Breeze platform includes a web services framework to enable integration with existing portal and enterprise applications, directory services, and SCORM or AICC-compliant learning management systems. The platform also features enhanced business reports, account administration, and Secured Socket Layer (SSL) support.
