how can i have video (not flv) and flash in the same webpage

Hi,

I need your help because i have a little problem.

I will try to explain it with an “example” (sorry for my English, I’m French)
Imagine a flash animation with a tv screen where you can watch an intro like a “tv news”.
At the end, the screen stays black.
At this time I need to launch a video in wmv format on this screen.
It seems possible with a layer (dhtml), but I encounter problems with the different layers (what is on top and what is “under”), browser compatibility and more..

Why do I want to put video “on” the screen, and not in the flash animation with FLV format ?

Because my videos will change really often, and will be uploaded in a database via a back office. And the back office was not build for “dynamic flash”

My questions are :

- Do you see a way to do that with a dhtml layer on my “animation”
- Have you ever seen a website where I can see that (video – no flv format – on a flash animation)
- Now you know what I need, if you have to use video in wmv format from a database and make it appear in a web page which starts by a flash animation (animation which stays on the page even if the animation is ending); how do you do that ?

Hi,

I don't think DHTML layers are supported by all browser types. You can import a .wmv file directly into Flash MX or higher....

If each .wmv file was embedded and exported as a seperate .swf file, you could load the files dynamically......

_root.holder_mc.loadMovie("testWMV.swf");

I am not fully up to speed on database usage, so this may not work, just an idea.
