    Default fade in/out

    I want to have my text start as a solid object, fade to nothing and return to a solid object.

    Hi,

    Put your textfield inside a movieclip and manipulate the alpha property of the movieclip with an onEnterFrame event. Make sure to embed the font that your using when putting a textfield inside a movieclip that is to have any property manipulated.
