  1. Default Bearbot wants to talk to you. (yes you!)

It's not really a game but if you're feeling bored and lonely, you could have a chat with Bearbot at :
    http://www.square-bear.co.uk/games/bot.htm

He's a little stupid at the moment but the more people talk to him, the smarter he becomes. You can talk to him about anything, and he will learn and become smarter. I'm trying to get him to carry a decent conversation, so the more people that talk to him, the more he can get used to humans. He's currently at the level of intelligence as a 6 year old child.

Type your question/comment in the top box and press enter, after a few seconds Bearbot will reply.

    Cheers!

Nice work. Seems to function pretty well. I was only able to trick or confuse him a few times. Are you basing your responses off keywords? How does he "learn"? Pushing keywords into an array of somekind and saving to a textfile or database? I used a microsoft agent character to do something similar some time back, but he just responded to keywords. I never got around to adding the textfile or database backend to it so users could add keywords. Anyway, nice job!

Thanks for checking him out. I use a mixture of keywords and breaking down sentence structure to base his replies on. Every conversation with him is logged and I check these logs to tell him what he should remember and what are lies.

Originally, I left him "self-learning" but found that people were abusing this by saying things like "John is ***y" or "Sue sleeps with men for money". This was unacceptable as young children talk with him and if they were to ask, "Do you know Sue?", I didn't want him replying, "Yes, I know Sue. She sleeps with men for money"!

Yeah great work indeed. I asked him about Sue

He seems to have forgot her, shame really, but who knows what is around the next corner.

Keep it up, ill pop back in a few weeks and see how he is progressing.

Thanks Taff. The "Sue, sleeps with men" post was just an example of why I couldn't let him self learn. He doesn't have knowledge of anyone called Sue as far as I am aware.

*edit* I just read you chat with him:
    -------------------------------
    Human: Do you know Sue?
Bearbot: I don't know if I know it. Where would I have heard about it?
Human: Shes a girl I know
Bearbot: a girl you know is she?
Human: yes, Square bear mentioned her and I want to know more
Bearbot: Awesome. I will tell him you said that.
    Human: Great work btw
Bearbot: Thanks for your support. I've lost the context,. Are we still on Sue?
Human: No but id like to be
    -------------------------------

"No, but I'd like to be"?! ROFL Nice comeback

you based him off a grad students grad project bot from a long time ago. its a nice script. but needs alot of work. let me know if you need any help with it. I have experimented with stuff like this for a long time.

He's based partly on the work of Dr Richard Wallace who is a pioneer in the field of AI. What is it you believe it needs work with? He seems to be learning things pretty well so far.

Since I last posted, he has learned a lot more and can now speak English, French and German along with a little Italian. He has also learned to play the Rock, Paper, Scissors game.

I'm currently working on an SMS feature for him as well as the ability to join message boards. These are still in the early stages though and don't always work.

He has a new friend called Anna who you can talk with. Anna is a 20 year old student from Atlanta, Georgia. Thanks to everyone at the Anna Project.
