    Default Error Opening URL: Photo Album Tutorial

    Hello All:

    Yes, I am a newbie. So I decided to try the photo album tutorial and it didn't work at all. Is it because I don't have the .jpgs uploaded to a website?

    Here is the error info I get:

    Error opening URL "file:///C|/GorhamL%20Documents/flash%20animation/flash animation/george155.jpg"
    Error opening URL "file:///C|/GorhamL%20Documents/flash%20animation/flash animation/george155.jpg"

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

    The files can be local. Put the image files in the same folder as the flash movie and use the loadMovie method to load the images to a movieclip. The getURL method is used for opening a new webpage or file from the internet....

    myMovieClipHolder.loadMovie("someImage.jpg");

    Im trying to do a smilar thing, in that I need to open an image file that is on the local disc.

    It is for a basic image editor. The user selects the file with the browse option, and this file is then loaded.

    The selection of the file works fine, but loadMovie gives "Error opening URL"

    I don't want to have to use the upload function of FileReference to send the image to a server, and then download it from the server for editing - the image could be huge and that seems a very wastefull way of doing things...

    Any suggestions on how to get it to load the required file? (will need to work when then flash is published to the web, not just when locally hosted)
