    Default Permanent Outline Mode

I've a couple thousand Flash files (fla) with both vector and imported png graphics. The vast majority of them work just as they ought to.

A few of them, however, have decided to go into a permanent outline mode. That is, all the vectors and pngs appear as outlines as if every single layer of every single graphic has had its outline icon pressed... as if a general flag has been set to display everything in outline.

Now, when I publish, the swf appears just as it ought to, but inside the fla, all is outlines.

Curiouser, when I create a new file and use the brush to paint, it paints with an outline. Load a single png and it appears as an outline.

And then, at the same time, I can open a file from my vast majority and it appears as it normal. No outlines.

Has anyone encountered this quirk? And more important, what is the fix?

    Thanks.

When you are in the process of actually painting, do you see the ink as it should be and THEN it turns into an outline? Or is it an outline during and after you paint?

Oh here we go. Go into the menu bar > View > Preview Mode. Is it set to Outlines? If so, set it to Full.

    Default Saints be praised!

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

So, it was a general flag after all, not a corrupted file or application as I begun to fear.

    A brief rant.

Flash "Help" is not the shortest path between two points.

I look up the keyword "outline" and nearly a fourth of the entire help section is listed.

    What a relief.

It is not easy to navigate the help docs at all. Haha.

It replaces having to use the scroll bars and zoom commands. The panel's red-colored View Box can be dragged around in the panel to change the focus in the document window, and it has a view scale slider to change the zoom level.
