I'm an utter newb and just started learning Flash CS5. I'm following a tutorial in a book, and it just doesnt work the way they say it does. The tutorial wants me to create a large colored rectangle on one layer, then create a layer on top, and have a colored circle move across the stage.
the tutorial says to create a layer and then put a big colored square rectangle on that layer. Then create another layer on top, draw a circle, make the circle a symbol, and then right click the circle (I'm on a PC) and select motion tween, then drag the circle.
However, nothing happens. It doesnt work.
I can do it the reverse way, and it does work... create a layer, draw a circle, make it a symbol, select motion tween and then drag the circle... the motion tween shows up correctly.... then create another layer, drag it BELOW the motion tweened layer, and put the square rectangle background on the underneath layer. This works correctly and gives the effect of the tutorial.
I cant get a symbol to motion tween if its on a layer above another layer.
Anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
