Is it possible to add/import an .gif in Flash Cs5?

I need help importing .Gif images in Cs5
It wont play and turns to multiple images in the library instead of one straight file.
I tried to make an new symbol, then movie clip to drag the
.Gif to it but it flashes on and off when it plays unsteadily,
Is there an way to add it to an menu and play without complications?

Please help, I'm new :P
