    Default Movie Clip instance?

    Hi guys,

I am trying to modify an existing swf file....

I successfully decompile the flash file(converted to .fla) and actionscripts but I am quite a newbie with flash, I don't quite understand how can I access some certain functionality....

place here an image from from Flash CS 5.5, you will see there a Sprite with an assigned name "crosshairMC", can u tell me what is that? I am guessing it is an instance name, if it is can u tell me how can I access it from Flash CS 5,5. to change it lets say to, "crosshairMC1"...

If it is no instance name can u tell me what it is? As u may see from the screen shot, it is referenced from a script in the action panel....but I can find any class named crosshairMC or any other variable that previously instantiated with this name.....

    So where is it coming?

    Thx for the answers....

If you are decompiling fla files, then I am going to warn you that it is illegal to take someone's work or product and use any part of it without asking their permission and giving them credit where it is due.

'crosshairMC' is in fact an instance name (or variable name) and you cannot find any other reference to it probably because you decompiled someone's source code. Decompiling does not necessarily give you everything / may make errors. Also, if it is an instance name, then you will need to look on the stage at the frame that contains the reference and search for an actual object with that name. You will not find a class with the name, because instance names are not the same as class names.
