Trying to make a .swf for my mom's birthday.

Haha, yeah. I'm actually an advanced programmer and am working on a pixel editor made with adobe air, along side a desktop 'forum' made with adobe air.
I got stuck on some problems, and it really wore me out trying to fix them all day. So I took a nap, and I'm not tired now.

I have one more question, you have a list of things, but how are you implementing them?
i.e. are they all going to be on the stage, like you said, or in a movieclip in the library? or is there another way?

Well i would hopefully have it layed out in the code of the frame for the random generated like
function clickbutton(simplified of course)
choose from one of
"Quote"
"Quote"
but will that work? if not, well then i can't think of a way, so if you have a suggestion, that would be great. But if i go ff and don't reply just go with the suggestion without asking.

A few methods.
One: If you write each of your quotes in a txt file, 1 quote per line, then I can have flash load the items in.
Two: Same way as one, except quotes will be in a text field in flash instead.
Either way would be fine I think. Method one would require you to keep the txt file with the swf file.
Method two would keep everything in one file. I would suggest method one if you were going to change the quotes or add new ones, but since you're not, it would probably be better to go method two.

Well i was thinking i might change the quotes around but if you gave me the project instead of the swf i could just change the quotes and then re-export the swf. So if that works, option 2. If not, you would also have to explain how to make each quote different if i just wanted one at a time. And will there be a display all button?

I'll give you project, I just need to know which method so I can form the code around it.
In the library there will be a movieclip with a textfield. I'll have it filled with example quotes, and you can change them there.
I'll also put in a display all button.

Perfect. So method 2 it is! Thank you! I have to get off now but i will try to come back on in about 20 minutes. Is that sufficient or do you need longer? I so, it's fine. If absolutely necessary, i can just wake up in the morning and grab it. I am really grateful for this!

I'm working on method two implementation, then I'll work on the display all.
I'm going to guess you just want a simple text box on the screen, so I'll make the text box, and you can change it's properties later.
I'll also make the screen 800pixels wide by 600pixels high. You can change this as well, just don't forget to center the text box.
Another half our should be plenty of time.
