Hi,
A better description is probably all I need to suggest a solution. What do you mean by "sub buttons"? Is this a movieclip used as a button or an actual button symbol?

ive sent you an email, thanks for helping
Hi,
I replied to your email. If you describe your situation accurately, I can probably suggest a solution without ever seeing an .fla file I've been using Flash for about 10 years.

Hi,
Flash is only backward compatable for one version. This means with FlashMX, you have the option of saving the file as Flash5, FlashMX2004 can save files as FlashMX, Flash 8 can save files as FlashMX2004.
Button Issue.....
One solution is to use movieclips as your sub buttons and toggle the visible property of the sub buttons when the main button is released. You could even simplify it by putting each group of sub buttons inside a movieclip and toggleing the visible property of the holder movieclip.
Here is an old demo of a dropdown menu that I made. It was something I made a long time ago and would probably do differently now, but might give you some ideas on how to complete your project.
