shapes without outlines, background color unadjustable

please offer me your advice. I cannot change the background color, nor can I alter the white fill color for simple shapes(ovals and rectangles). When I select the shape with the selection tool, the properties indicates that there is no outline and no color fill for the shape. Also, when using the pencil tool the color chosen appears as does the proper line weight, but once I let go of the mouse to finish the line, the color changes to a thin green line that cannot be changed. I think these issues are related, please advise me.

hi, to change the fill color in objects, select the object and open the color pallette and choose your color. To put an outline to your object, make sure you have some color selected in the outline box, right above the color box in the toolbar. Then draw your object you will see the outline. Select the keyframe, in which the drawing is located, and it will show you exactly what you have.
